Dr. Joern-Peter Halle, Vice President Global Product Unit Oncology at Merck Serono
Dr. Joern-Peter Halle, Vice President Global Product Unit Oncology at Merck Serono, serves as the sponsor for the oncology development projects in Merck Serono’s pipeline. In this capacity the global oncology product team leaders report to him. He is member of the product development committee and the oncology therapeutic area leadership team.
Joern-Peter had been VP Early Stage Licensing at Merck Serono until December 2009 with significant contributions to in- and out-licensing, to the establishment of the Merck Serono’s corporate VC fund, and to acquisition projects. Prior to joining Merck, he held management positions in Biotech companies. Dr. Halle holds a PhD in molecular biology from the University of Konstanz, Germany.

Declan N.C. Jones, Director, Biology, European Centre of Excellence for External Drug Discovery, GlaxoSmithKline plc
Dr Declan Jones joined the ceedd in 2007 as a Director of Biology after spending 14 years in CNS drug discovery within GlaxoSmithKline, finishing as Director of In Vivo Neurobiology and Strategy Leader for Schizophrenia and Bipolar Disorders. The ceedd was the first team in GSK R&D to be truly externally focused with no internal programs to manage, working across all therapy areas, tasked to form multi-program, risk reward sharing alliances. The ceedd searches for innovative scientific platforms and compounds through our collaborations and helps to nurture them to develop differentiated medicines which deliver significant benefits to patients. Declan is currently working with the ceedd alliances Neurosearch, Targacept, Prosensa and Chroma Therapeutics.
