AM-Pharma (NL)
AM-Pharma is a Dutch biopharmaceutical company focused on the development and commercialization of innovative therapeutics for human use. Its products are endogenous peptides and proteins, optimized to fight inflammatory diseases and infections. AM-Pharma has two products in clinical development; Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) and anti-microbial peptide hLF1-11 (hLF1-11)
Alkaline Phosphatase (AP) has shown in a Phase IIa trial to improve survival in acute renal failure (ARF). ARF is a condition that kills nearly one million patients annually in the major markets. Clinical data demonstrates that treatment with AP reduces the mortality with around 50% compared with placebo. Importantly, less than half of AP-treated patients need expensive dialysis compared to the placebo group. AP would be the first drug on the market to treat ARF.
AP, given orally, demonstrated similar efficacy as infliximab In an Ulcerative Colitis study, measured with the Truelove-Witts score AP showed 79% response and 26% remission rate at week 9.
Anti-Microbial Peptide hLF1-11 is a new broad spectrum anti-microbial. hLF1-11 has shown to be effective against a broad set of gram+, gram- and fungal strains. The product established an excellent safety profile in Phase I clinical studies. hLF1-11 works via selective activation of the innate immune system in the presence of an microbial infection. Therefore it is unlikely to generate drug resistance in micro-organisms. Speaker Profile
