Thomas Taapken, CFO

Dr. Thomas Taapken is CFO of the emerging pharmaceutical company elbion NV
since 2005. He has a long international experience in the area of venture
capital, as well as a strong operational background in the life sciences
industry. Prior to his position at elbion, he spent three years as a
Partner in the Life Science Team of DVC Deutsche Venture Capital. Before
that, Thomas Taapken worked for 8 years at Sanofi-Aventis and its
predecessor companies in the areas of Research, Business and Corporate
Development and Venture Capital in Germany and the USA. During his career,
which he began at Hoechst AG in 1995, he has been involved in more than 40
corporate transactions spanning from acquisitions, mergers, divestitures
and IPO’s. Thomas Taapken holds a PhD in chemistry from the Technical
University of Berlin.
