Stefan Aigner, MD, CFA


Dr. Aigner is currently Executive Vice President, Corporate and Business Development, at Alpharma Inc., a leading specialty pharmaceutical company. During his tenure at Alpharma he has built a strong pain management portfolio and pipeline. Prior to joining Alpharma Inc., Dr. Aigner was co-founder and Executive Vice President of Business Development for Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc., a specialty pharmaceutical company. During his seven year tenure with Reliant, Dr. Aigner led the company through multiple product acquisitions and in-licensing transactions and was responsible for building a unique cardiovascular portfolio through strong partnerships with leading U.S. and European companies. In addition, Dr. Aigner was responsible for Medical and Scientific Affairs. Reliant Pharmaceuticals, Inc., was purchased by Glaxo-SmithKline in 2006. Prior to joining Reliant, Dr. Aigner was a consultant with The Wilkerson Group, a leading healthcare consulting firm, where he focused on the development of corporate strategies, assessment of new products, and evaluation of potential partnering candidates.

Dr. Aigner also served in various medical and scientific roles within leading medical institutions, including the University of Erlangen, Germany; University of Birmingham, U.K,; Free University of Brussels, Belgium,; and Mt. Sinai Hospital, New York. Dr. Aigner sits on the Board of Cipher Pharmaceuticals, Canada.

 
 






Dr Andrew Wood, Lilly UK


Andrew Wood graduated in natural sciences from Cambridge University and in clinical medicine from Oxford University. He joined Eli Lilly & Co in 1991, following 10 years in academic medicine, having undertaken postgraduate specialist training in psychiatry and having extensive basic and clinical research experience in the molecular pharmacology of psychiatric disorders.

Since joining Lilly he has been involved in many aspects of drug development, with particular emphasis on neuroscience compounds. He has experience of clinical development across several disease areas, and has led both clinical and preclinical research organisations in Europe and Japan.

Since 2003 Andrew has been a member of Lilly’s Global External R&D function – leading the scientific partnering and in-licence activities in Europe. In this role he has experience of the assessment of multiple projects and multiple potential partners across the region, and of working with a broad cross-section of the Life Sciences academic and industry sector within Europe.
